A complete Lake Tahoe interior design and architecture renovation of a substantial house at Lahontan Golf Club Community for a repeat client resulted in an extreme transformation from tired and outdated to stylish without trendiness. In its new iteration, understated drama is apparent from the moment one enters the house, beginning in the great room where the steep pitch of the wood-lined roof perfectly frames a monumental stone fireplace dividing the primary living spaces. In the kitchen, the highly figured stone of the waterfall-edge island, countertops and backsplash — set against neutral gray cabinetry and softly lit by multiple glass pendants suspended from a reclaimed-wood beam — establish a tone of contemporary elegance in this mountain modern style home.
The interior architecture required space planning that took on the challenge of an intricate puzzle as a sunroom became a fifth bedroom and cozy nooks and window seats were created to offer plenty of opportunities for getting away from the crowd. Patterned and textured custom upholstered furniture, statement lighting and a bar with black hexagonal art tiles accentuate the transitional nature of this rustic modern home.
