It’s all about the lake at this Austin, Texas home where sunny, gracious living combines with creativity and a decided sense of fun — the perfect respite for visiting friends and family. Our clients, for whom we’ve created interior design and architectural design for five homes and counting, came to us for a generational home on the shores of Lake Austin. We were involved in every stage of this project, from advising on the selection of the creative team to helping design the architectural details of the limestone-and-glass structure.
The home makes a strong statement of interior design creativity and flair from the moment of entry, where a wood-and-steel staircase floats within a double-height entry lined with rift-sawn white oak, to the open-plan living area and primary bedroom, where floor-to-ceiling glass creates a strong connection to the water. Moments of design distinction include interiors including a dramatic black-and-white three-sided fireplace, an oversized white waterfall island in the kitchen, a moody built-in bar with art tile, a master bath featuring unique hardware, a four-bed bunk room with individual compartments and steel details, and a decidedly fun statement powder room. Interesting furniture details and bespoke lighting carry through this home designed for easy entertaining and indoor/outdoor living.
